Job Summary

The person hired for the position of Quality Engineer will be responsible for quality programs that support the company’s initiatives.  They will lead and coordinate gap assessments to Industry expectations in addition to supporting product quality for the applicable materials, as well as supplier quality topics

Your Responsibilities

  • Support the North American team with quality planning, issue resolution and in domestic/global quality discussions.
  • Provide quality representation for the market segment teams in customer meetings and reviews.
  • Support building and maintaining customer relationships.
  • Communicate and support IATF-16949 and Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs).
  • Maintains an awareness of product quality improvement opportunities and is productive in evaluating potential solutions / ideas and making proposals.
  • Maintains a flow of quality contributions such as material/product/process and system innovations and understanding - and documents and communicates these via internal reports, technical presentations and/or publications.
  • Assist and be a part of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process.
  • Lead effective and timely 8D problem solving.
  • Review, analyze and provide reaction and improvement plans for Customer Scorecards.
  • Complete customer quality assessment reports.
  • Process and control all non-Sparta PPAP submissions (requires interface with non-US facilities)
  • Supports the quality team at Plant Sparta on issues as needed (includes quality management system, supplier and customer issues)
  • Collaborate with Sparta on internal audits as well as supplier audits and development plans
  • Act as an extension of the Sparta facility for external and internal support.
  • Creates and maintains extensive network of resources (quality, lab, manufacturing, engineering, sales and marketing) to facilitate completion of assignments
  • Functions as an effective team leader and promotes harmonious and efficient working relationships

Hiring Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Minimum of two (2) years of combined Quality Engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience with ISO-9001
  • Problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Experience working on a cross functional team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline from an accredited university
  • Experience in the Automotive Industry, including Supplier Management in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Experience with Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) Core Tools. Experience with IATF16949
  • Experience with IATF-16949
  • Experience as an auditor
  • Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management e.g. American Society for Quality-ASQ certification(s): Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP)
  • Black Belt or Green Belt experience
  • Skills include communication, writing, and handling conflict
  • Microsoft Office proficient, Minitab or another statistical tool a plus
