Sustainable Production

As the production centers are responsible for the majority of tesa`s Scope 1&2 emissions, tesa implemented a sustainable production program in which initiatives that sustainably reduce Scope 1&2 emissions are executed on a global level. Examples include investments in solvent-free technologies and product transfers from solvent based to water based adhesives. Furthermore, facilities are adopting closed-loop systems and advanced distillation techniques to recover and reuse solvents (net-solvent free production), hence, reducing hazardous waste and lowering environmental impact.

Another important topic in this regard is the continuous reduction of production waste. Here, it is particularly important to prevent pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from landfills and incineration. Several initiatives ensure the collection, sorting, and reprocessing of our production waste, turning materials like plastics, metals, and paper into valuable resources.

Renewable Energy

The production of adhesive tapes is energy intensive. Heat and steam are used in many processes along our production chain.

In the past, predominately fossil fuels were used to provide needed energies which caused significant carbon emissions. Our aim is to produce our products climate-neutral by 2030. To meet this ambitious goal, we implement a four-pillar strategy in all our sites:

  1. Energy efficiency measures to reduce primary energy demand
  2. Electrification of heat and steam generation
  3. Onsite generation of renewable electricity
  4. Cost-optimized energy use through digitalization
