Adhesives, such as the tesa® ACXplus (opens in a new window or tab) range, play an essential role in the transport industry. Our client, SBF GmbH (opens in a new window or tab), a leader in railway systems (opens in a new window or tab), has adopted tesa® ACXplus 7072 (opens in a new window or tab) as their primary mounting tape to secure their lighting modules.
Railway vehicles must follow strict fire safety requirements, primarily DIN EN 45545 (opens in a new window or tab). This means that materials used in the construction of trains must be as low-risk as possible. Each aspect must consider the following:
- Prevention of fire occurring due to technical faults in equipment design or vandalism
- Minimise the effects of fire, such as heat, smoke, and toxic gases
SBF GmbH (opens in a new window or tab), established in 1862, is an expert in lighting technology. Over time, they have specialized in train lighting. 2007 was a milestone year for the company, as it became a pioneer in LED train lighting.
With stringent regulations to meet, they needed a specialist mounting tape for lighting modules. They trialled our tesa® ACXplus 7072 for the job, as it fulfills standards set by DIN EN 45545. Specifically, the construction of the tape must comprise an "aluminum - tape – aluminum” design.
