Social engagement also holds the world together

Sustainability

tesa is taking responsibility for the world around us, especially when it comes to alleviating suffering to make the world a slightly better place.

We are committed to supporting organizations that work towards improving the lives of children worldwide, focusing on their safety and education. Whether on a global scale or locally at our locations, we want to get involved, making a positive impact through our donations.

Long-standing alliance with Save the Children

Since 2020, we have been closely collaborating with Save the Children, the largest independent children's rights organization worldwide. Our focus is on projects that promote education for young people, with a particular emphasis on science and technology. However, we are also committed to support relief projects in acute crises.

When powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of up to 7.0 struck the southeastern region of Turkey and northern Syria on February 6, 2023, thousands of children and their families were forced to leave their homes amidst freezing temperatures. In response, tesa provided financial donations to support Save the Children's endeavors to protect the affected children and their families from the cold. This assistance included providing them with essential winter supplies and emergency equipment as immediate relief measures.

Save the Children received another donation at the end of the year, thanks to the commitment of our employees. During our Sustainability Week in November, we encouraged the systematic removal of unnecessary data from our servers. In the end, approximately 6,000 gigabytes were deleted. For every gigabyte deleted, tesa donated one euro. In the end, tesa increased the donation, resulting in Save the Children receiving 25,000 euros. This donation was specifically allocated to the global initiative "Safe Back to School & Learning," which we have been supporting since the end of 2022.

tesa's donations have supported numerous projects and organizations at our global locations. In particular, tesa Region Europe has contributed 70,000 euros to Save the Children's Children's Emergency Fund (CEF), which provides swift and effective aid to children in acute emergencies, often within hours. In 2023, the CEF played a vital role in providing immediate and life-saving assistance in countries such as Ukraine and neighboring countries like Romania and Poland, Turkey, Yemen, Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo. These contributions from tesa have helped ensure quick and efficient support for those in need.

A variety of activities

From participating in the children's carnival at the India location, collecting donations in Turkey, and providing hands-on assistance in a reforestation project near the tesa facility in Offenburg, to volunteering in a sustainability education initiative for children and their families in Japan, tesa employees have been actively involved in various activities with heart and a hands-on mentality.

tesa Lucky-Cent-Initiative

The generosity among tesa employees is also evident in our Lucky Cent initiative: Many of the Hamburg-based employees from tesa Werk Hamburg, tesa Manufacturing, and the tesa Headquarters donate the leftover cents from their monthly salary payments. At the end of the year, this amount is matched by tesa, resulting in a total of 8,700 euros collected in the reporting year. Since the initiative was introduced in 2014, a total of approximately 70,000 euros have been directed towards social causes in this manner.

Employees decide where the leftover cent donations go through an annual vote on the tesa intranet. In 2023, “Wellcome” was selected, a nationally operating social enterprise that, following the motto "Children can only be well if their parents are well," provides relief, advice, and networking for parents with numerous offerings, ensuring their children grow up healthy in a loving environment.
