Innovative product line added to tesa range: Sugru® supports the repairing trend among young target groups

With its May 2018 acquisition of British company FormFormForm Ltd., tesa has added an innovative product line to its existing broad range of consumer products. The company, which is based in London, manufactures and sells Sugru®, a patented, outstandingly moldable special silicone-based glue with a wealth of uses.

Thanks to a unique combination of properties, this material is highly temperature-resistant and stands up to chemical influences, offering a firm hold while still retaining its flexibility at all times, even under extreme conditions. Sugru® is available in various colors. Possible uses range from mounting and adhesive bonding to sealing, insulating, protecting and marking and even filling cracks and holes.

“Sugru® adds a versatile product to our range of smart mounting solutions that supports a sustainable lifestyle and appeals to young target groups in particular,” said Dr. Robert Gereke, CEO of tesa SE, at the annual press conference in Norderstedt. “Furthermore, the company’s expertise in e-commerce will give us significant impetus in implementing our digital strategy.” FormFormForm Ltd. earns more than 50 percent of its sales through digital business channels. Sugru® products are also sold by retailers in Europe, the United States, and Canada.

Supporting a conscious lifestyle
Sugru® has its roots in the “repairing” movement, supporting this trend toward sustainable lifestyles, which is especially on the rise among young people: “Behind Sugru®, there is an inventive product and the idea of inspiring ever more people to engage in creating, fixing and repairing,” explains Sugru® inventor, company founder, and managing director Jane ní Dhulchaointigh. The European Patent Office (EPO) granted ní Dhulchaointigh, who is originally from Ireland, the European Inventor Award at a ceremony in Paris in 2018.
