Norderstedt, October 14, 2025 – tesa, international manufacturer of innovative adhesive tapes and self-adhesive product solutions, is hosting its fourth international Sustainability Week from October 13 to 16, 2025 with the motto "Decoupling growth from emissions and driving customer value". The events are taking place both at the Norderstedt headquarters and at all international locations. As a company that consistently prioritizes sustainability, tesa is accelerating its transformation and, with over 600 scientists, engineers and product developers worldwide, relies on science-based approaches for innovative, more sustainable products and processes. With six production plants worldwide, tesa is driving sustainable manufacturing forward, relying on modern technologies and efficient processes.
Milestones on the path to climate-neutral production by 2030
tesa has already made significant progress on the path to climate-neutral production by 2030 and has reduced CO₂ emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 39 percent. An important milestone: 90 percent of global electricity demand is now covered by renewable energy. tesa is also breaking new ground in technology development and creating sustainable customer added value across various industries. Particularly noteworthy is the "Debonding on Demand" technology, which was awarded the MMK Award of Excellence 2025 and makes it possible to selectively release permanent adhesive bonds – an important contribution to the circular economy. The company has also expanded its portfolio of more sustainable product solutions to around 80 products that make a positive contribution to sustainability.
"Decoupling growth from emissions poses major challenges for companies worldwide. At tesa, we have set a clear course: With our sustainability strategy 'we do', we are not only driving the reduction of our CO₂ footprint, but also developing innovative solutions at the same time. One example of smart solutions is our AI-supported energy platform, which integrates energy management at all tesa locations. It enables intelligent control of facilities and provides global monitoring as well as forecasts for daily operations and long-term energy planning," explains Dr. Ingrid Sebald, Chief Technology Officer of tesa SE.
300 million investment in sustainability
tesa has set ambitious sustainability goals and is investing around 300 million euros in climate-neutral production by 2030. The company is focusing on solvent-free production, efficiency improvements and advanced technologies. The consistent implementation of this strategy is bearing fruit: in 2025, tesa received the CDP A-Rating for outstanding climate protection measures for the second consecutive year and received the EcoVadis Gold Medal for the third consecutive year, placing the company among the top 2% of all globally assessed companies.
As part of its sustainability strategy, tesa has developed a targeted energy policy that includes measures for energy savings, increasing energy efficiency and using renewable energy. A prime example is the solar park in Offenburg, which went into operation in 2025 with more than 13,000 PV modules, covering around 25 percent of the plant's annual energy requirements and saving approximately 1,200 tons of CO₂ per year. In addition, tesa is planning to connect the Hamburg plant to the hydrogen network, which will result in annual CO₂ savings of around 6,000 tons.
