Our customers are looking for solutions that help them meet sustainability requirements without sacrificing process reliability or customer experience. To support this transition, we are expanding our paper-based tear tape portfolio with two new product versions that complete the range: tesa® 51334 PV0 and tesa® 51344 PV1.

Industry challenge: Sustainability without compromise
Packaging manufacturers are under increasing pressure to replace filmic solutions for box opening in order to meet evolving regulatory and recycling requirements. At the same time, high output productivity remains critical, requiring full production line speed and efficient tape processing. In parallel, expectations for a clean and intuitive unboxing experience are rising. Yet traditional filmic tapes often undermine this, especially when it comes to credible sustainability claims.
You asked. We delivered.
Following the successful introduction of our first two paper-based tear tapes, customers were asking for:
- A broader range of colors for improved visual matching
- Tailored thicknesses for different substrates and packaging types
- Consistent runnability on market-leading applicators
- Solutions that maintain high tensile strength and strong adhesion on recycled board
In close collaboration with corrugated board producers and converters, we developed two new paper-based tapes that meet these needs and further expand our more sustainable tear tape portfolio. Our partners now have four options to choose from.
Reliable performance for modern packaging lines
Designed for high-speed production environments, all our paper-based tear tapes deliver high reliability on industrial equipment. They are engineered for smooth, stable unwinding to maximize process efficiency, tested and proven on applicators from Wellpack and MuK, and qualified for in-line dry-end application on corrugators. In addition, they are suitable for off-line integration in folding-carton and mailing-bag machines, ensuring predictable and trouble-free operation — even on substrates with high recycled content.
All four paper-based tear tapes share a strong sustainability profile. They feature 100% bio-based paper backings, solvent-free coating technology, and can be disposed of together with paper packaging. Classified as technically recyclable according to the CEPI recyclability laboratory test (version 3)1, they enable packaging producers and brands to strengthen mono-material claims while simplifying end-consumer disposal.
