      This location may be small and "tesa tape" not well known in the US, but that's because we rarely have job openings, but we're expanding right now looking for people who want a career          not just a job.

Job Summary
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.   The incumbent will ensure that the company is compliant with ISO 14001 requirements; including, but not limited to: procedures, processes, training, reporting and audits.
He/she is responsible for the production plant and Research & Development in Sparta, as well as the Grand Rapids warehouse, totaling 120 employees in 2 locations.
The EHS Coordinator reports directly to the Plant Manager and has no direct reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable MIOSHA and other federal, state, local and corporate environmental, health and safety standards.
  • Develops and maintains all emergency management systems along with driving incident prevention and management processes.
  • Main contact for all environmental agencies and MIOSHA, as well as being responsible for all required reporting, including, but not limited to, monthly environmental reporting, MIOSHA reports and workers’ compensation.
  • Ensures all necessary inspections and reporting according to the Pollution Incident Prevention Plan (PIPP), Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC), and Storm Water Discharge.
  • Ensures that hazard safety analyses and ergonomic assessments are performed on all equipment and processes along with reviewing all equipment for improvements.
  • Develops, implements and maintains a training program to ensure occupational health, environmental and safety required training. Creates a company calendar of all safety, environmental, and safety related training, reporting, audits, inspections etc. for all tesa facilities in the Grand Rapids, MI area.
  • Leads the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 including internal / external audits, goals, and governmental compliance.  Defines and maintains internal safety and environmental standards.
  • Leads the safety team to promote a culture of zero accidents by driving programs to prevent and educate employees on safety hazards and identification of potential risks.
  • Maintains all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in all facilities, as well as communicates and trains on all necessary updates and changes. 
  • Is part of and participates in the tesa global network of EHS managers. Promotes sharing of best practices, reports incidents, accidents, and near misses, as well as findings to this network if applicable.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Environmental, Safety, Engineering or a related field and at least two (2) years of manufacturing workplace safety administration experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and closely related experience.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, local regulations requirements for regulatory reporting.
  • Flexibly and willingness to support 24/7 operation including routinely spending time on night shifts to conduct training or address safety issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and lead individuals at all levels with a hands-on approach.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities. 
  • Strong leadership, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Powerpoint, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to frequently travel locally on a daily basis; ability to travel internationally up to 5% annually.
