As automation engineer, you are accountable for:
Manage investments: he/she participates in the definition of the investment plan. He/she has the responsibility of the feasibility analysis, cost estimation and return on investment, aimed at the presentation of investment proposals.
Project Management: He/she runs the phase of defining the objective of the investment, whether it is dedicated to new machinery or to changes of the existing ones. He/she develops the functional and technical specifications of the devices and of the automation systems to meet the objectives defined, he/she processes the quotation requests and interfaces himself/herself with suppliers to obtain tenders and to verify the technical specifications of supply.
Continuous Improvement: He/she is in charge of identifying new possibilities of application and development to automation within existing industrial plants and processes, collaborating with relevant colleagues (project engineers, maintenance, production, logistics, energy engineer, facility engineer, etc.) to identify areas where automated processes can be introduced to improve aspects related to safety, quality and productivity.
Tools and methods: Based on his/her knowledge of industrial automation control and command systems (PLC, SCADA HMI and MES), he/she guides, supports and monitors the work of external suppliers in the design phases of the overall system architecture and of the control and implementation logics, of software development and programming.
He/she is responsible for the selection and effective application of design tools and methods based on reference standards (European Certification, Project Management Standard). He knows the risk assessment tools (FMEA) and the systems for measuring the performance of the production process, in particular the OEE model. He/she is responsible for technical documentation and projects he/she manages.
Support and consulting: He/she collaborates with the process en-gineer in assessing the safety and quality risk. He/she provides his/her knowledge related to machinery and plants, contributes to projects to improve safety, quality and competitiveness on a global level.
He/she collaborates in the process of analyzing the causes of complaints and non-conformities when required.
He/she supports and collaborates with the project engineer with his/her knowledge and skills in the field of industrial automation for the development of projects and investments.
He/she is responsible for creating data collection and management systems to enable statistical analysis activities, trend analysis, SPC (Statistical Process Control) systems, etc.
System responsibility: As part of his/her role, he/she has to verify with QHSE that the new machinery and production plants are al-ways compatible with the safety and protection standards of op-erators and with environmental regulations;
- Degree in Electronic engineering or related comparable work experience of minimum 3 years
- Good knowledge of Project management
- Good knowledge of PLC, HMI, SCADA and MES systems and their programming
- Knowledge of the Ignition system would be an advantage
- Must be available to travel to other locations, including travel abroad
- Knowledge and experience of design methods (Project Management Standard), of FMEA risk / failure assessment
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 as a plus
- English: good verbal and written communications skills
