New benchmark for vehicle safety: tesa expands range of innovative adhesive solutions for wire harnesses
- Broad product range: Specialized solutions protect against risks such as fire or accidents
- Accident protection: Flexible and secure alternative to conventional "non-tape" solutions newly added to the range
- High customer demand: Leading automobile manufacturers show interest in tesa's innovative technologies
Norderstedt, 19.08.2025 - The safety statistics from the German Insurance Association paint a clear picture: German authorities register around 15,000 vehicle fires each year (GDV, 2024). According to the German traffic fine regulations, technical defects are among the most common causes of motor vehicle fires (Kilinc, 2025). To address these and other safety-critical requirements, tesa, an international manufacturer of innovative adhesive tapes and self-adhesive product solutions, has developed three customized tape solutions for wire harnessing. With those solutions, the company aims to make a decisive contribution to increased road safety. The innovative high-performance products systematically address the three most critical risk areas of modern vehicle electronics: fire protection, abrasion protection, and crash safety.
tesa® 63000 for accident protection: This polyamid (PA) fabric tape solution reliably protects wire harnesses in accident-critical areas against loads of up to 50 joules. The direct fixation prevents slipping, saves installation space, and enables flexible processing – ideal as a space-saving alternative to rigid components.
tesa® 69000 for enhanced abrasion protection: This application features tesa's most resistant PA fabric tape for protection against abrasion at temperatures up to 125°C. It is ideal for demanding environments in vehicle construction and particularly suitable for electric vehicles. Various color variants for high and low voltage lines enable safe identification while providing high mechanical protection.
tesa® 67003 for fire protection: This solution was specifically developed for the requirements of electric vehicles and reliably protects cables from overheating. It withstands temperatures of up to 1000°C for 10 minutes. The flexible tape adapts better to cables than rigid protective sleeves and maintains its protective properties even in extreme heat.
A decisive innovation advantage connects all three tape solutions: Through their adhesive tape-based technology, the range offers significantly more flexibility than conventional tubes or channels, thus creating valuable installation space for individual customer requirements. All product solutions are optimally suited for applications with high-voltage wire harnesses, with which tesa specifically addresses the transformation of the automotive industry towards electric mobility.
