A strong foundation for education: Save the Children and tesa extend partnership

  • Partnership Extension: tesa donates additional 1.146 million euros to Save the Children until the end of 2025
  • Education Support: Global education and emergency aid projects supported since 2020
  • Future Opportunities: Save the Children's "MakerLabs" and "Safe Back to School and Learning" programs promote digital skills and safe learning after crises

Berlin/Norderstedt - tesa, international manufacturer of innovative adhesive tapes and self-adhesive product solutions, and children's rights organization Save the Children extend their partnership with a donation of 1.146 million euros until the end of 2025. The cooperation, which began in the pandemic year 2020, started with education and emergency aid initiatives to give disadvantaged children the chance for a better future. Even today, children and young people continue to suffer from the consequences of the Corona pandemic and educational inequalities.

Worldwide support for education and emergency aid projects

Through the partnership with tesa, hundreds of thousands of children and their families worldwide have been reached so far. Under the motto "A Strong Bond for Education - Together Worldwide," selected education and emergency aid projects in Germany, Vietnam, Turkey, Venezuela, and other countries will be supported in the coming year.

Florian Westphal, Managing Director of Save the Children Germany, says: "Children repeatedly tell us how important school is to them and how our educational programs give them more self-confidence and courage. Investments in education contribute decisively to the long-term development of every child and every country. Nevertheless, only three percent of global humanitarian aid funds flow into education. Therefore, the extension of our partnership is significant not only for Save the Children but also for the future of many children. We thank tesa for their valuable contribution."

Dr. Norman Goldberg, CEO of tesa SE, adds: "The best investment in the future is the investment in our children's education. With a total donation amount of now almost three million euros, we are making our contribution to crisis management and supporting Save the Children in reaching educationally disadvantaged children in Germany and around the world."

Educational equity and digital participation

In Germany, tesa's home country, a child's educational success continues to depend heavily on their social background. To promote more educational equity and equal opportunities, Save the Children is committed to increasing digital participation nationwide through the MakerLabs project. Children and young people aged six to 18 years and educational professionals learn about various creative digital technologies together, thereby developing forward-looking digital competencies. Through financial support from partners like tesa, more than 38,000 children in schools, libraries, youth leisure facilities, and neighborhood centers can be reached by the end of 2025.

Save the Children's global "Safe Back to School and Learning" Initiative (SB2SL) also depends on strong partners like tesa to give children the opportunity to continue learning safely after crises, conflicts, or other emergencies. The program takes a holistic approach to address educational barriers and facilitate access to school for all children, for example through the provision of school buses, school supplies, and clean drinking water. To date, SB2SL projects have been implemented in 26 countries and reached more than three million people. Additionally, tesa supports acute emergency aid measures in crisis and conflict areas such as Ukraine.
