Four letters that “electrify” the electronics industry: OLED. The term describes Organic Light Emitting Diodes, which are excellently suited for flexible screens – for example, in smartphones, tablets, and TVs. Besides the use of OLED modules in a variety of displays, the planar and “warm” light will soon also be used for foldable or rollable screens.
A key problem of OLED technology is that it is highly susceptible to environmental influences; thus, the sensitive substrates must be encapsulated with the highest precision. Technologically sophisticated special adhesive tapes have proven to be an effective method to protect OLEDs from oxygen and humidity.
Our new generation of transparent tesa® Barrier Tapes encapsulates the entire surface of the OLED material and thus protects it from humidity for many years. Furthermore, the unique tesa DrySeal® liner makes sure that our barrier tapes already lose their residual moisture during transport.
Our thin, double-sided adhesive Barrier Tapes are suitable for all OLED display applications, such as in smartphones, as well as for screens.
