One of the top reasons our customers choose tesa® Twinlock is because of its sustainability –the self-adhesive sleeves can be used over and over again before being replaced, saving cost and reducing the amount of material that winds up in a landfill.
But this is not always the first reason for every printer. It’s also often when flexographic printers are looking to solve quality problems that they turn to tesa® Twinlock.
CHALLENGE
As any high-volume printer will attest, fixing quality issues can be a complicated process in which every detail must be investigated. Not only that, but it’s often time-consuming, which cuts into precious production time. After months of tweaking and testing in an effort to resolve plate-lifting problems and press bounce, one busy printer, already a tesa customer, learned about tesa® Twinlock. While it was the promise of smoother, faster print runs that first caught their eye, tesa® Twinlock’s eco-benefits and cost-saving opportunities made the decision to try it a no brainer.
SOLUTION
It’s a big deal anytime something new is introduced into a busy print production environment, and because this printer prints a variety of different types of jobs, they wanted to see how tesa® Twinlock would perform on both short and long press runs. So when the time came for the trials to begin, tesa reps were on hand to guide the customer through the learning curve and help answer any questions quickly and efficiently. Working with press operators, mounters and production staff at the plant, tesa provided training on mounting, demounting, handling and storage. tesa also worked with the team to ensure print quality was equal or better than before working with tesa® Twinlock.
RESULTS
With tesa® Twinlock, this customer was able to address bounce problems, save time and increase press speed. With a first layer, open cell foam structure, tesa® Twinlock absorbs bouncing effects for a tightly controlled, higher print quality and often faster press speeds. The customer was also pleased by the time savings between press runs. With tesa® Twinlock’s multi-use, self-adhesive technology, there was no need to remove and reapply tape before mounting new plates between jobs, which takes much less time for set-up. The customer also experienced faster production times on both short and long press runs with tesa® Twinlock, enabling press speeds to increase from 300 meters to 450 meters per minute. With the ability to maintain speed, eliminate bounce and deliver excellent print quality, the customer felt 100% confident in adding tesa® Twinlock to their print production process.
