Opened in 2005 and expanded in 2019 and 2022, tesa Site Suzhou is a central hub in Greater China, combining production, global procurement, technology innovation, and a Customer Solution Center in one strategic location. This close interaction enables fast responses to customer enquiries and changing market demands. With advanced manufacturing capabilities, including cleanroom environments, the site produces single- and double-sided adhesive tape solutions, supported by automated, robot-assisted processes and high operational efficiency driven by digitalization.
Since 2021, tesa Plant Suzhou has been operating with 100% renewable electricity. A three-phase photovoltaic system now covers around 20% of the site’s energy demand, helping reduce carbon intensity. The plant also promotes more sustainable everyday choices for employees, including electric vehicle charging stations.
A key step to improve efficiency and strengthen air-emission compliance is the zeolite concentrator wheel system implemented in 2024. In 2025 alone, the system enabled savings of around 371 MWh of electricity and 600,000 m³ of natural gas, resulting in a total reduction of about 2,600 tonnes of CO₂.
The project is supported by a waste heat recovery boiler that converts combustion heat into steam which is reused in production - creating a closed-loop setup that combines treatment, recovery, and utilisation.
In water management, a rainwater harvesting system contributes to annual savings of approximately 2,400 m³ of water.
Packaging circularity is another lever: 87,499 end-walls and 2,190 cores were reused in production, saving a total of 47 tonnes of plastics.
Since 2024, an intelligent energy management platform has integrated real-time data collection, intelligent analytics and visualised control - enabling accurate monitoring and ongoing optimisation of energy use.
2025 National Green Factory (MIIT)
tesa Plant Suzhou has been officially designated as a 2025 National Green Factory by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). This national-level recognition highlights the site’s achievements in energy efficiency, carbon reduction, resource efficiency and clean production, marking an important step forward for tesa’s sustainability efforts in Greater China.
Certifications
The site is certified to key international standards, including:
2025 ESG Practice Model Award (Suzhou Industrial Park)
In addition, the plant received the 2025 ESG Practice Model Award from Suzhou Industrial Park for progress in green production, energy efficiency, emission reduction and circularity.
