The term wearables – or wearable computing – refers to various portable computer systems that are attached to your body while you use them. These do not only include familiar wearables such as fitness trackers, activity trackers and smart watches. They also include less well-known devices such as smart glasses, smart headgear, smart jewellery and even smart clothing, which will play a major role in the future.
The key challenge of these electronic wearables is their battery life. This is particularly true for wearables with very limited space for batteries. As well as this, flexible or conformed curved displays are necessary, since these devices should also be comfortable. Flexible displays can easily double the amount of information that can be shown on the user’s wrist, for example. However, the miniature design of wearables is very challenging for engineers.
Our tapes offer the perfect solutions to confront these various challenges. To meet these challenges, our tapes are not only characterised by a variety of thicknesses and a range of applications. They also offer excellent solutions for bonding flexible displays, whilst featuring various functional properties. Thanks to our broad range of specialised and standard adhesive solutions, we are able to offer individual options for a variety of wearables. Our adhesive solutions also include chemical-resistant tapes, as one thing needed with wearables is resistance to typical skin-related chemicals such as perfume, sweat and sunscreen.
