Company officials of tesa tape, inc., an affiliate of tesa SE, a global leader in the manufacture and supply of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, are pleased to announce that the company has officially become a sponsor of the EcoCAR 3 Competition, an initiative designed to foster educational opportunities for college students focused on automotive and engineering studies.

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and General Motors, EcoCAR 3 was launched in 2014 as one of the DOE’s educational competitions (Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions) in which students are challenged to re-engineer the iconic 2016 Chevrolet Camaro to further reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance level of the vehicle. The program management group – Argonne National Laboratory – selected engineering-focused teams from 16 North American universities to participate in the four- year long program. During the timeframe, students are charged with designing the ultimate energy-efficient, high-performance vehicle possible, while still maintaining the Camaro body design and safety features.

As part of the company’s commitment to supporting both educational and social responsibility initiatives, managers within the tesa Automotive business division have committed to supporting the EcoCAR 3 program both financially and with automotive-related products. Mr. Paul Sullivan, tesa’s Vice President & Global Value Chain Manager–Automotive, elaborated on the company’s decision to support the program: “We at tesa tape have been a partner to the automotive industry for more than half a century.
