One frequent weak point in plate mounting is the corners of the printing plates. They often come loose from the curved cylinder during the printing process, lifting slightly. The results are lower print quality, higher rates of wastage and complaints – and, in extreme cases, even machine down time.

For its tesa® Softprint Secure, tesa has taken this problem into account, developing a new adhesive mass that effectively prevents plate edges from lifting. Even on small-diameter cylinders or foam sleeves, or when thick printing plates are used, corners remain securely fixed in place – more securely than with any other printing plate mounting tape on the market.

tesa® Softprint Secure is available in a thickness of 500 µm and in three degrees of foam rigidity. Naturally, the new printing plate tape also has the other outstanding properties of the rest of the tesa® Softprint range. The most important element in the tesa® printing plate tapes is their foam backing: Images taken of tesa® Softprint with a scanning electron microscope show closed foam cells with an extremely even cell structure. The effect: Pressure is distributed evenly, and the foam cells offer precision resistance, down to the thousandths of a centimeter – even at high print speeds and on long runs. Optimized shape retention means that even microscopically small details of the print master are depicted outstandingly well.
