Special adhesive tapes for industry – focus on proximity to customers
tesa AG opened its newest production site, in China, in 2005. The grounds of the tesa plant, which occupies 70,000 square meters in the industrial park of Suzhou, a city of one million near Shanghai and a former center of the silk trade, are home to the manufacturing of double-sided special tapes for use in the electronics and automotive industries. The plant also has a technology center for research and development.
Its immediate proximity to numerous industrial clients will enable the company to react to those clients’ wishes more quickly and more appropriately in the future, and to drive innovations even more quickly by working closely with clients on joint development projects.

State-of-the-art production system
More than 100 employees ensure productivity
The tesa plant in Suzhou is currently staffed by more than 100 employees. It is planned that this number will be increased to 150 by 2008. The number of different products manufactured there is slated to be increased from 16 in the first year to about 30 in 2007.
Cutting-edge technology for environmental protection and quality
The new plant, which was planned, built, and put into operation in record time of just under 30 months, is equipped with state-of-the-art production systems. A solvent recycling system ensures that the necessary environmental protection is in place right from the start.
In addition, a water recycling system is also in planning. The plant is also preparing for the certification process for the exacting, internationally recognized ISO 9001 and ISO TS 16949 standards.
