Storage

General recommendation

Hazardous goods must be stored in such a way that they do not pose a hazard to human health or the environment. As a basic principle, we distinguish between interior and exterior storage. There are specific requirements for these categories, such as with respect to fire protection. In the case of interior storage of highly flammable or combustible substances, the walls, ceilings, and doors of storage spaces must be made of non-flammable materials, and there must be a fireproof separation between storage spaces and adjacent spaces.

In the case of exterior storage, storage systems do not have to be fireproof if a minimum distance from surrounding buildings is maintained. Important: no more than a single day’s supply of flammable fluids can be stored in any given work area.

Storage of flammable products

Flammable tesa products must be protected from heat and direct sunlight. They are best stored in well sealed containers in a cool, dry place. In addition, the official regulations applicable to storage of compressed gas containers must be observed.

For optimum functionality of tesa adhesive tapes, the following general rule applies: Store at 50 percent humidity and room temperature of not more than 25° C.

Adequate fire extinguishing equipment and materials must be provided in areas where flammable fluids are stored, and it may also be necessary to install additional fire alarm systems.
