No chance for product pirates

The problem is intensifying worldwide year by year and now affects nearly every industry: Counterfeiting of car parts, medications, perfumes, and other high-value consumer items are increasingly leading to serious economic losses in numerous markets.

Product piracy and gray market trading also involve risks to the consumer. Counterfeit goods are usually of lower quality and may, as in the case of medications or spare parts for cars, even be hazardous to life and limb. Counterfeiters are increasingly professional in their work, so it is becoming increasingly important for companies to combat counterfeiters actively.

The tesa subsidiary tesa scribos GmbH has developed an effective means of counteracting product piracy: the tesa Holospot® system.

The core of the system is a small, absolutely counterfeit-proof label bearing a data field just 1 mm² in size. This data field allows for storage, on various levels, of visible and concealed features that can be used to identify genuine goods with absolute certainty.

The so-called “tamper evident effect” makes any attempt to tamper with the Holospot® label clearly and permanently visible, thereby providing optimum protection from tampering.

Once affixed, a tesa Holospot® cannot be removed: A completely newly developed adhesive coating ensures a strong hold even on critical surfaces.

tesa scribos has also developed a new generation of scanners to decrypt Holospot® data and read it out to a desktop or notebook computer.
