tesa SE is to outsource its logistics to a service provider as planned. In the course of doing this, the logistics facility, which has to date formed an integral part of the Offenburg factory, and the logistics centre in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart will be dissolved.
In both cases, the management and works council have found socially acceptable solutions. As such, in Offenburg, many of the 60 jobs from the logistics area have been permanently preserved; the company plans to offer jobs in production to up to 30 of the employees concerned and to make a redundancy payment to those who do not und take up this offer. 30 further employees hold temporary work contracts, which are expected to expire at the due date.
For the nearly 70 staff of the logistics centre in Leinfelden-Echterdingen near Stuttgart, an interim employment company will be set up, in which they will qualify for new occupational tasks and be supported in the search for employment. Moreover, they will also receive a redundancy payment.
In future, deliveries to customers in Europe will be made by logistics service provider Dachser from a new distribution centre that is being set up by Dachser in Vaihingen near Stuttgart. The switch will take place in the second half of 2010.
This outsourcing is part of a package of capacity adjustment measures announced in April, with which tesa is responding to a substantial decline in orders and sales as a result of the economic crisis.
tesa SE, which is a subsidiary of Beiersdorf AG and known in Germany for its tesafilm® adhesive tape and numerous other self-adhesive products, achieves three quarters of its international turnover – most recently of 860 m Euro – from self-adhesive system solutions for industry. Its focuses include the automotive and electronics industries. In these areas especially it was heavily affected by the economic crisis in 2009. The tesa group employs around 3900 staff worldwide.
