These products consist of recycled or biologically based raw materials, are free of solvents, and are packaged in renewable or recycled materials. It is a logical step for the company: In introducing the ecoLogo brand, tesa is taking the next step in its longstanding commitment to the environment, putting that philosophy into practice at the product level as well.

The new tesa ecoLogo® products will be available at specialized retail stores starting in January 2010 – easily recognizable by their green packaging and the logo with the same name. The sub-brand is being rolled out with six items, including the tesa ecoLogo® EASY CUT hand dispenser. This ergonomically shaped green dispenser is refillable and made from 100% recycled materials. The same is true of the tesa® Stick glue stick and triangular tesa® Easy Stick. In addition, the adhesive masses used for these products do not contain any organic solvents, which means that they are particularly environmentally friendly to produce. The tesaecoLogo® symbol also appears on the refillable tesa® adhesive and correction tape dispensers, which are made from 81% recycled materials, and tesapack® Paper, a packing tape produced from 60% renewable or biologically based raw materials. All tesa ecoLogo® products meet the same high quality criteria as the conventional tesa product range, while also fulfilling the requirements of the DIN EN ISO 14021 standards for ecological products.

tesa ecoLogo® is a logical outcome of tesa SE's commitment to sustainability and its well-established environmental programme. Heiko Jendralski, Product Manager for the new tesa ecoLogo® products, said, ‘At tesa SE, we believe that economics and ecology are objectives of equal value. tesa ecoLogo® puts us at the cutting edge and meets our customers' growing demand for "green" office products.’

Retail support

Symbols on the packaging advertise the product's ecological benefit, while percentage figures indicate how much recyclable material has been used. The green design and the concise ecoLogo ensure that the products will be found by consumers quickly and that the environmental benefits can be seen at a glance.
tesa will support retailers with counter displays for the new tesa ecoLogo®-product sticks and tape dispenser. Dealers will also be given banners for online advertising, and sales will be promoted through PR campaigns with a prize draw for end consumers.

tesa SE: Environmental responsibility born of tradition

With a workforce of almost 4,000 worldwide, tesa SE is part of the globalised world – and believes it is responsible for protecting it. Those are not merely empty words. As our first environmental programme, from 2001 to 2006, came to an end, we again set ourselves ambitious, binding objectives for the next five-year period. Compliance with these internationally-applicable goals is being overseen by a global monitoring system tied to uniform production volumes in each case. All nine tesa plants around the world have the ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification. Thanks to installing a new heat recovery system at tesa's Offenburg plant, we managed to reduce CO2 emissions by almost 2,300 tons in 2008. tesa SE has been a member of the UN Global Compact since 2006, and aligns its business activities with the social and environmental principles of this global initiative. tesa's procurement charter ensures that tesa's suppliers also comply with these rules.
