Flexible and economic identification
The new tesa® 6910 laser label
The identification of components and finished products with laser-markable adhesive film is characterised by its especially high flexibility and efficiency. Both the inscription and the cutting of the label are carried out by the laser within one production cycle. Even small amounts can be tailor made cost-effectively on location. In order to reduce the costs for purchasing and warehousing and to make the production processes considerably more efficient, this technology has been deployed successfully in the automotive industry for many years. Due to its reliability and flexibility, the laser-label-technology has been increasingly used in other industries too. The new self-adhesive polyolefin film, tesa® 6910, was developed as a way of providing a laser-based solution characterised by its cost effectiveness. With the tesa® 6910 laser label, a wide variety of markings in all required formats with varying content can be produced exactly when they are needed: all within one production cycle and directly on the assembly line. This means absolute flexibility and provides enormous benefits: because fewer single labels and plates need to be kept available, the costs for storage, administration and logistics are lowered significantly. In addition, the risk of mislabelling due to a mix-up of labels is minimised. Also unused quantities and waste material become a thing of the past, due to just-in-time production.
Quick, durable and precise
tesa® 6910 is up to handling even high production speeds. The laser label allows for a marking speed of up to 4,000 mm per second, so that modern high-speed lasers can be deployed. The white material contains special pigments that change colour when activated by the ND:YAG laser beam. The marking is dust-free and very precise. The finest lines, microscript or barcodes can be realised with high contrast. Contrary to thermo transfer printing, tesa® 6910 is characterised by its high precision and flexibility in label geometry and at the same time ensure a stable process. What is more, the sturdy PP foil itself is resistant to abrasion, chemicals and climatic conditions.Wide variety of uses
tesa® 6910 is designed for a great variety of different applications. In the electrical industry, the laser label can be applied for the labeling of components and parts as well as for the logistic purposes during the production. In the entertainment industry it can serve as identification plate or can be used for labeling of memory boards or rechargeable batteries.
A Japanese sushi restaurant owner, for example, uses the labels to clearly mark his sushi plates. The marking appears in the form of an ornamental ribbon to the eye of the beholder, but serves also to guarantee freshness and identify the best-by time. The plate regularly goes through a sensor on the conveyor belt and, using the label, is monitored as to how long the plate has been on the belt. The system then identifies when the plate is to be withdrawn after its expiration time.Identification made to order
