Gone are the days when labels only served to identify a product: today, labels are an inherent element of sophisticated marketing strategies and packaging design with ever increasing requirements. The highest demands on appearance and complexity of design, new materials, more space for information due to new laws and regulations, and multilingualism are just a few of the challenges facing the labelling industry. The tesa® Softprint 380µm range, specially designed for use in flexographic label printing, meets all these different demands.

Alongside full tone areas, one label alone can contain subtle colour gradients and fine lines. For perfect print quality, all elements in the process must be matched to each other. In plate mounting for example adhesive tapes play a decisive role. Therefore tesa offers the right tape firmness and adhesive strength for every type of printing and thus ensures a high level of process security and efficiency.

The carefully formulated special adhesives allow simple, quick and low-residue demounting even on thin plates, but during printing tesa® Softprint tapes adhere to both cylinder and plate securely.

The most important element of tesa® plate mounting tapes is the foam backing: SEM imagery shows tesa® Softprint with closed foam cells with an extremely even cell structure. The result is even print distribution and a cell consistency exact to within 0.001cm, even when printing at high speed. The optimized consistency of form means that even microscopically small details are reproduced perfectly.

The tesa® Softprint range covers two different thicknesses of foam which are available with different adhesive strengths for use with different kinds of plate. All tapes are geared for use on steel cylinders, possess a high initial tack and colour coding. tesa 52115 and 52015 have a medium-hard foam backing. tesa 52117 and 52017 have a soft foam backing. The range is completed by the foil adhesive tape tesa 52338. Thus, the tesa® Softprint range has the right solution for any print job, with superior print quality and simple and secure handling.
