Thomas Schlegel to take over as CEO starting in October

As of September 30, Dieter Steinmeyer will retire as Chief Executive Officer of tesa AG for age reasons and join the Supervisory Board. In a meeting held on Thursday, the Supervisory Board chose Thomas Schlegel as his successor.

Schlegel, now 52, began his professional career at tesa in 1982, when it was still a division of the Beiersdorf group of companies. Schlegel, who holds a degree in economic engineering, has held various positions in marketing and sales in both the consumer and industrial lines of business. In his role as Regional Manager, he played a key role in building up tesa’s successful activities in Asia. Schlegel is currently managing the tesa business in Southwest Europe.

tesa AG has been an independent member of the Beiersdorf group of companies since 2001. With a staff of about 3,800 worldwide, the company earned sales revenue of € 846 million in 2007. Of that total, tesa earns 75% in special self-adhesive systems for industrial customers, emphasizing the electrical and electronics, automotive, and printing and paper industries.
