tesa Light Management: special solutions for mounting displays – a market of the future, with many fields of application.

From mobile phones and PDAs to multimedia players, navigation devices, notebook computers and televisions – these days, there are hardly any consumer electronics devices that do not have liquid crystal displays (LCDs).

According to market studies, the total number of small to medium-sized displays of this type of this type in 2007 was over 3.75 billion (source: iSuppli). In 2008 alone, the market for LCDs in cell phones is projected to grow by more than 10% (source: IDC). At the same time, the technical requirements are becoming more stringent as displays become larger and flatter while also being required to work more energy-efficiently and, of course, deliver perfect picture quality. Conduction of light within the display plays a critical role in meeting all of these requirements.

With the tesa Light Management product range, tesa offers the electronics industry the optimum solution for mounting liquid crystal displays. These tesa® special adhesive tapes reliably fulfill a number of functions at the same time:

• They ensure that the components of the LCD hold together securely – even at high temperatures and humidity.
• They optimize the background lighting by means of a reflective coating applied on one side.
