Interpack 2008: Ultra-Tearproof Due to Slits

The worst-case scenario at a barbecue: All that is missing is a nice, cold beer – which at the moment is leaking from broken bottles into the gutter, because the corrugated cardboard packaging tore when someone carried it one-handed. tesa® Cut Stop would definitely have prevented this. The new adhesive tape for handle reinforcement, with its special lengthwise-slit backing, provides particular protection from further tearing in the event of damage.

tesa® 50100 Cut Stop ensures that cartons can be carried securely even with heavy loads. At the same time, the handle reinforcement does not negatively affect the design and is easy to handle during the production process.

tesa Cut Stop is based on a monoaxially oriented polypropylene backing called “MOPP film.” Lengthwise scoring over the entire length of the tape stops potential lateral tears, preventing the tape from tearing further in the case of damage. Despite its minimal thickness, it can also withstand high traction force. This makes the premium adhesive tape excellent for nearly all applications involving handle reinforcement – from package tops to sides and carrying handles.

And yet, producers of beer packs are just one of the many conceivable groups of customers. The corrugated cardboard industry has been growing worldwide for years, with the result that new fields of application are constantly opening up. Moving boxes, for example, can be reinforced using tesa® 50100 Cut Stop or, depending on the requirements, with other products from the same product line. And cartons that are filled with bulk goods and therefore prone to bulging could also be reinforced and kept in their original shape with Cut Stop.
