Interpack 2008: Securely packed with tesa onto the plane

Individually designed manipulation protection by tesa

The new flight security regulations for carry-on baggage place new challenges not only on passengers. For duty-free shop operators, these new regulations have implications, as liquids can be transported only in limited quantities: they need to ensure that perfumes, beverages and other liquid substances are placed exclusively in sealed shopping bags.

tesa has developed a tailor-made solution to meet these requirements: the security adhesive tape tesa 64013 for secure sealing of plastic bags. The label with „Security Seal – Do Not Remove“ printed on it will be guaranteed tamper-proof by the use of a combination of various colors which have a predetermined breaking point. When trying to open the shopping bag, the printed words, „Opened – Geöffnet“ appear and the bag cannot be resealed.
These labels are already being used in duty-free shops at Swiss airports. Duty-free purchases are especially attractive here, as customs duty is not imposed on many duty-free items, in contrast to EU-member states.

The shopping-bag security seal supplements the tesa® security concept for protection against product theft and manipulation. Part of this concept is the proven security packaging tape tesa® 64007, the successful security labels tesa® 64010, as well as the security metal seal tesa® 64012 and the pallet securing tape tesa® 64008.

All four make unauthorized opening visible and assure shippers, transporters, and recipients of high-value goods that their deliveries will arrive with their original seals intact. So thefts of goods on the logistics chain are being prevented. Consequently dissatisfied clients, expensive replacement shipments, and additional processing costs are things of the past.

The flexible tesa® security concept is supported through training sessions giving on its implementation and is already successfully in use in a number of industries. Clients such as DaimlerChrysler, Leica Microsystems, the shipping company Otto, Tengelmann, Tchibo, Mahle Aftermarket, and T-Mobile use our security systems for external shipping and internal logistics, for example to secure goods being sent to branch locations.
